Set: 105373

Last Day No.4. Cravens 105 373 triple takes the ‘Down Branch’ at Cart Junction on the returning 10:01 Kilmacolm - Glasgow Central service under darkening skies. An old notebook suggests this was DMBS E50384 + DMBS E51301 + DTSL E56464 (nearest camera). Reduced to a single lead, Cart Junction once served routes to Kilbarchan, Kilmacolm, Elderslie and Johnstone. The houses in the background are the outskirts of Linwood. Last Day No.2. Ghost-like Cravens triple 105 373 approaches Cart Junction on 09:07 Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm service. The DMU is on the 'Up Branch' from Elderslie No. 2 via the fly-under junction. The rising gradient is the 'Down Branch' to Glasgow which trails in at Elderslie No. 2 on the flat. The Canal lines were then accessed at Elderslie No.1 and what was Canal Junction. Last Day No.1. The 08:50 Kilmacolm - Glasgow service (ex. 08:07 from Glasgow via Gilmour Street) crosses the Black Cart Water on the approach to Cart Junction. This is probably 107 435 (with 101 DMS to rear) which was diagrammed on the branch that day. The trackbed and bridge in the foreground is the GSWR route from Cart Junction to Brownhill Junction via Kilbarchan. The Kilmacolm bridge was dismantled and the line breeched by the A737 Johnstone Bypass further north. Most of both routes to the west are now part of the Sustrans National Cycle Route network.
